Dear Manor Woods Families,
Happy Friday! It was great to see so many families at our MWES Math Night! During the event, students and parents/families engaged in fun, thought-provoking math games. It was great to see everyone smiling, talking and engaged in the games. It was hard to tell who was having the most fun ~ our students or the parents/guardians. Thank you for attending this event. We want to give a huge shout out to our staff for planning, organizing, volunteering and making our Math Night a huge success!
We are thrilled to announce one of our Manor Woods Mighty Ducks has been named a finalist in the State of Maryland Literacy Association’s (SoMLA) annual Young Authors’ Contest. Congratulations to 4th grader, Alice Cannon, for this amazing accomplishment! Alice is invited to the statewide Young Authors’ Awards Ceremony on April 3rd where the top two awardees in each category will be announced. WAY TO GO ALICE!
A message for our MWES Families celebrating Ramadan. The Muslim holiday of Ramadan started the evening of March 10 and will end on the evening of April 9, 2024. If you would like to request an alternative location during the lunch period of Ramadan please email your child's teacher. Ramadan Mubarak! We wish all who are celebrating a peaceful and happy month of Ramadan!

MCAP
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires that states administer annual state assessments to all students in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics in grades 3-8 and once in high school.
Manor Woods students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will take the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) in both ELA and math. The MCAP provides information to educators, parents, and the public on student progress towards proficiency on the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards. For more information, visit https://www.hcpss.org/academics/testing/mcap/.
The MCAP assessment window is Thursday, April 4 - Friday, May 31. Specific testing dates are below for each grade level. Please make every effort to have your child attend school on testing days and to refrain from scheduling any appointments during these times to minimize missing instruction due to make-up testing. There is no need to study for the MCAP. To prepare, have your child get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time.
