It has been another great week at Manor Woods! Having 5 days of sunny weather for our students to enjoy outdoor recess every day has been wonderful!
As we approach mid October, we are excited to share some important updates and reminders for the month ahead. Fall is in full swing, and we encourage you to dress your child in layers to accommodate the cooler weather. In addition, please label your child’s clothes with their name. Our lost and found bin is growing by the day and when clothing items are labeled with a child’s name, our staff can quickly return the item rather than being added to our lost and found bin. Parent-teacher conferences are approaching on November 25th - 27th, and the sign-up will open for parents/guardians on November 8th. More details on scheduling will be shared soon.
Families can monitor student progress and grades through Canvas. Please note that teachers may take up to three weeks to update their Canvas gradebook. Additionally, the Second Annual Trunk-or-Treat event, sponsored by our PTA, will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Please be aware that our school does not host a Halloween celebration during the school day. As such, students are not permitted to wear costumes on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, or Friday, November 1, 2024.
Please be advised that teachers/staff have up to 48 hours to respond to emails during the school week. If you have reached out to a teacher and/or staff member, please allow this time for a reply before following up. If you have an urgent matter, please call the front office. During the school day, our staff are engaged with our students and often are unable to read and/or respond to email throughout the day. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Each year, the Howard County Public School System partners with the Maryland Partnership for Prevention to bring flu immunizations into our schools for students. This year, they will also be offering the latest Covid vaccine if it is available at the time of the clinics. The clinic at Manor Woods Elementary school will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 during school hours. If you would like your child to be vaccinated against the flu and/or Covid at this clinic, please register at this link: https://www.marylandvax.org/appointment/en/reg/9278201675
You are not required to provide your child’s insurance information. If you have any concerns about the new Covid vaccine, you are advised to speak with your child’s pediatrician. All in-school clinics will be closed to registration one week before the clinic date to allow our health room staff time to review and prepare the consents and make sure enough vaccine is ordered. If you wish to cancel your child’s appointment after then, please contact the school nurse. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse, Laura Ruiz at 410-313-8326.
